‘Stella de Oro’ begins its display of golden yellow flowers in mid-June and keeps on flowering at a steady pace until fall if the spent blooms are removed. Her individual flowers survive just 1 day, but Stella de Oro daylily will re-bloom. She will put out more profusely if the spent flowers are deadheaded: remove stem and all.

monthly-special-2Use it in borders or in containers on a patio or deck, or make a Daylily border just of ‘Stella’. Planted together in large numbers, they quickly crowd out weeds and make a carefree and colorful ground cover.

They also look very nice placed in a large pot on your deck. In addition, Stella is deer and rabbit resistant, making her a good choice for critter infested areas.

Stella will spit out more blooms if grown in full sunshine, but will also do fairly well light shade (dappled sun), thus offering a lot of flexibility in location. She’s also drought-tolerant and prefers well-drained soil.

According to stelladeorodaylily.org the Stella de Oro Daylily is a most beloved flower. Our April Special is a great opportunity to find out why.
